What does it cost to see you?

Fees can't be published under the Bar's publicity rules, and a figure quoted before I know your matter would be misleading anyway. You'll have a clear picture in the first conversation, and nothing starts until it's agreed in writing.

Someone in my family has died. Where do I start?

Find out whether there's a will, and gather what you can about what they owned. Almost everything else follows from those two answers.

Is what I tell you confidential, even if I don't hire you?

Yes. What you tell me while seeking legal advice is privileged, from the first conversation onwards.

Do you handle Muslim estate or Syariah matters?

No. Those go to the Syariah courts and need a peguam syarie. Tell me your situation and I'll point you to someone.

Which languages can we speak in?

Cantonese, English, Mandarin or Malay. I also read and draft in Chinese, which matters more often than people expect for older documents.
